Nickel Recovery Optimization and Kinetic Study of Morowali Laterite Ore
نویسندگان
چکیده
Nickel plays a critical role in the mining industry. However, presence of nickel primary source sulfide minerals is decreasing. Focus has since turned to laterite ore, which contains up 80% Ni metal. The purpose this study was optimize leaching using sulfuric acid and conduct kinetic analysis discover mechanism that best controls process. To operating conditions, response surface method (RSM) with Box–Behnken design used. shrinking core Zhuravlev, Leshokin, Templeman (ZLT) models were used assess kinetics Mineral characterization also performed gain better understanding sample characteristics. At 2 M concentration, 10% solid–liquid ratio, 90 °C temperature, highest observed recovery 87% apparent activation energy 32.75 kJ/mol.

X-Ray mapping and the mineralogy pattern of nickel laterite ore: Bavanat, Fars, Iran
According to the classification of the nickel laterite, this paper describes mineralogy test is to reveal where valuable elements are located in the ore, in which mineralogical form. The purpose of the sieving test was to study if some specific particle size contains most of the valuable metals. Based on its chemical composition nickel laterite is classified as a limonite type and the nickel an...
متن کاملNickel ore grinding energy determination
This study describes the application of an empirical method to estimate the energy consumption in laboratory of the primary grinding of nickel ore with a specific mineralogical texture. This method developed by Donda was previously used in iron ore from the Iron Quadrangle (Minas Gerais, Brasil) with the same purpose. Through the grinding test, performed under standard conditions and based on t...
متن کاملOptimization of parameters affecting recovery of copper from Sarcheshmeh low-grade sulfide ore using Bioleaching
In this work, the parameters affecting the recovery of copper from the low-grade sulfide minerals of Sarcheshmeh Copper Mine were studied. A low-grade sulfide ore was used with a copper grade of 0.25%, which was about 28% of the mineral oxide, and the sulfide minerals made up the rest. Much more sulfide minerals were found to be pyrite and most of the gangue minerals were quartz, anorthite, bio...
متن کاملNickel Sulfide versus Laterite : the Hard Sustainability Challenge Remains
There are widespread nickel resources around the world, but divided principally between nickel sulfide or laterite (oxide) resources. Historically production has been dominated by sulfide ores but future production is increasing shifting to laterite ores. The principal reason for this historically is that sulfide ores are easier to process, through conventional mining, smelting and refining, co...
متن کاملValuing flexible operating strategies in nickel production under uncertainty
With increasing global demand for nickel (which is a key component of stainless steel) the focus of mineral industry is currently on the abundant low-grade nickel laterite reserves. The extraction of nickel from the low-grade laterites is a technically difficult and expensive process and, as a result, the profitability of nickel production projects is highly affected by uncertainty over future ...
